My new short term objectives

As I have mentioned in my first blog, growing plants has given me new goals and meaning to life. I now have some objectives and goals. (Can you see me beaming from check to check?) So I'm gonna share what my goals are and see how far they can bring me.

1) First and foremost, learn the features of blogger so that it can come out in the search engine. I tried to search for my post using the tag words...yet I cannot find it.

2) Look for yellow dragon fruit plant and try to grow the fruits for consumption.

3) Germinate the cherry tomatoes seeds which I just bought and hopefully I can get to harvest the fruit.

4) Write blogs to help parents understanding the marking scheme of primary school exams as well as tips on  how to help your kids in their studies.

5) Review beauty products / methods which I have tried and share the success/failure.

6) Share the successful recipes which I have tried for an easy and delicious dish/meal.

6) Last but not least maintain the habit of blogging since I know it will take time and commitment.

So my dear sister, you being my first reader, will need to support me and help me achieve the goals I have set for myself. LOL.

New goals in life?

Ever since I have stopped working two years back, a part of me died.

Maybe I should explain a little about myself. I am what my sister termed as "COW - a person who enjoys working without any complaint". No, it is not quite the same as a workaholic. We are simply people who like the challenges a job brings, as well as interacting with the colleagues whether they have poisonous fangs ready to strike the minute you turn your back or simply nice and helpful folks that are ever ready to lend you a hand.

So you see, moi aka "COW" gave up my career because my ex-maid with superb acting skills had brought strangers back to my house, stolen more than $10k worth of money & jewellery and fed my then 1 year plus son with sleeping pills so that she could sneak out during the day time. It was by pure coincident that I found out all these deeds that she had done when I was on a half day leave on that fateful afternoon.

The maid who had been working for me for more than 2 years apparently holds a degree in drama course. She supplement her income by working part time as loan shark with the money she had stolen from me while everyone is away at work!

Will such unfortunate events (that usually happens only in TV drama!) unfolding in my life, I had no choice but to stop climbing the corporate ladder. Now, I no longer have to work up at 7.30am in the morning to slap on the powders and make my way to office, nor do I have daily tasks/objectives/deadlines to meet. I have been officially declared as a "Tai Tai" by my younger sis.

I know there are several people who would envy not having to work and being able to spend time at home with their children (my sister would be one!). I, on the other hand, loathe the idea. To me, I am the sacrificial lamb for the next generation. My job is to ensure that my children will be armed with the survival skills required in our demanding education system and that they will grow up to be useful citizens that our government would approve of (meaning those that will graduate with a good degree from one of our universities and secure a job to assist in the growth of our national GDP).

You see, the innate behaviour of the "COW" has been disrupted rather abruptly. So abruptly that I am still not used to my current life even thought it has been 2 years. Struggling everyday to find existence to my life,  I suffered from mild depression (according to the on-line diagnostic test).

I tried to occupy my life by doing things that most housewives enjoy - cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. While learning to cook and bake, I realised that there are some herbs (namely Parsley, Thyme, Basil and Oregano) which I would frequently require. It makes no sense to drive out to the nearest Cold Storage to get them especially during this dry spell and run the risk of aggravating the age spots on my face.  Not to mention, they cost $3.95 for a measly pack of herb. It was then I decided to grow them on my own.

I chanced upon Greenculturesg Forum and Petunia's + Blur Ting's blogs when I was reading up on cultivating plants. I learn so much reading their blogs, not just about growing plants, but other aspects of life as well.

Inspired by these wonderful and dedicated ladies, I decided to take up blogging as a mean to share with others my journey and discoveries. Hopefully someone, somewhere out there will benefit from reading my blog in return.

Armed with the new ambition, I have found a new goal in life - to share my knowledge and reach out to some lost souls like me.
